Truckfestival-Westfriesland is an annual festival held in the town center of picturesque Medemblik. More than 100 trucks are then set up in the city center of this historic fishing town.

This festival is known for its hospitality, small scale but especially for its conviviality and the much-discussed 'exodus'!

The uniqueness of Medemblik is that almost everyone is welcome! You don't have to have a supertruck to be admitted with us.
With us it's all about the 'us' feeling. Truckers we all are!

Admission is free, even for those who have registered.

Next edition will take place in 2026 on Sunday after Ascension Day.

During the Water Week, Medemblik is all about water, sports and fun. The entire weekend there is plenty to experience on and around the IJsselmeer, in the harbors and in the historic center. Visitors can enjoy spectacular water sports activities, demonstrations and competitions, with one of the highlights being the dragon boat race: a colorful and energetic spectacle on the water that guarantees excitement and enthusiasm.

There is also plenty of atmosphere on the quay with music, food and drinks, children's activities and surprising events on the water. Whether you go on the water yourself, prefer to watch from the shore or just want to enjoy the pleasant bustle: during the Water Week everything comes together.

The summer markets in Medemblik are an yearly event held in the town’s historic centre on the Bagijnhof. This year, they will take place on 4 July, 11 July and 26 July 2026. The markets are open from 10 a.m. to 5 p.m. You’ll find a wide variety of goods on offer, as well as some fun activities. There is live music between 11.30 am and 3.30 pm.

The Oldtimer Day takes place in the charming historic centre of Medemblik. From 10.30 am, the first participants begin to arrive to take part in the traditional tour. This year, the Oldtimer Day celebrates a special anniversary: its 30th edition! The return of the tour is always a spectacle and certainly worth watching. After a varied route of around 35 km, the colourful cars arrive back on Nieuwstraat at around 12.00 pm. For visitors, it is a wonderful sight to see the concours d’elegance pass by. Then the show begins. The public can walk past the beautifully polished vehicles, have a chat with the proud owners and get ideas for driving a car from a past era themselves.

Access is completely free.

The Medemblik funfair is an annual highlight packed with fun for the whole family! The town centre is transformed into a colourful world full of thrilling rides, cheerful music and delicious treats. From fast rollercoasters and carousels to nostalgic games stands, there’s something for everyone. Stroll past the stands, taste traditional sweets and enjoy the festive atmosphere that brings the town to life.

During the Hoorn Fair, the city is all about fun, excitement and entertainment. With some 70 attractions, it is the largest fair in the region, and one of the most famous fairs in the Netherlands. In the historic center you will find spectacular thrill rides, cozy family attractions, games, treats and classic fairground fun.

A highlight of the fair is the spectacular fireworks display on Friday night, which is set off from the water and can be seen beautifully from many places in the city. The last day of the carnival is Lappendag: a festive conclusion full of music, discounts and special promotions at attractions.

Besides the attractions, the fair provides a lively atmosphere with music, terraces and plenty of fun in the city center. Whether you come for adrenaline, nostalgia or just a fun day out: the Hoorn Fairground offers something for everyone and attracts visitors from all over the region.

Medemblik will welcome the world's top Star sailors in 2026 during the prestigious Star European Championship. The event will take place right across the park, at the Regatta Center Medemblik, where on the IJsselmeer the best sailors in Europe will compete for the title.

Visitors can enjoy the action on the water, where every course is full of strategy, speed and passion for sailing. Around the harbor, Medemblik offers a vibrant program with catering, music and activities, so that even those who do not go on the water themselves will have a fantastic experience.

A must for water sports enthusiasts and sports fans: the Star European Championship 2026 will showcase Medemblik as the sailing city of Europe.

Tijdens het Draverijweekend staat Medemblik helemaal in het teken van de indrukwekkende harddraverij op de Nieuwstraat, waar paarden en sulky’s razend snel sprintduels leveren en een geweldige sfeer ontstaat langs de baan. Tegelijkertijd beleeft de stad het Rondom Weekend, een groot feestprogramma dat al jaren samenvalt met de draverij en volop activiteiten biedt voor jong en oud.

Het Rondom Weekend is een feest vol gezelligheid en livemuziek, geopend met een stadsquiz en gevolgd door leuke activiteiten zoals een seniorenklaverjasmiddag, bingo’s en een PuCom puzzeltocht/fietspuzzelrit door Medemblik waarbij teams langs diverse posten opdrachten en spellen uitvoeren. Er zijn voorstellingen, poppenkast voor de kleintjes en een feesttent met optredens en livemuziek waar iedereen kan meefeesten.

Het hele weekend ademt levendigheid en plezier. Van het getik van de paardenhoeven op de baan tot de vrolijke klanken van livemuziek en het gelach langs de kade: overal is iets te zien, te horen en te beleven. Medemblik staat voor één weekend vol spanning, spektakel en een bruisende sfeer die jong en oud meeneemt in de unieke ambiance van het Draverijweekend met het Rondom Weekend.

The festively lit parcel boat will arrive at the Oosterhaven on Saturday afternoon, 14 November, around 5 p.m., with Sinterklaas and a whole host of Pieten on board. It promises to be an atmospheric arrival of lights!

The programme starts at 4:30 p.m., and this year there will once again be plenty of music to enjoy. The tour ends at Radboud Castle, where a festive party will take place from 6:45 to 7:45 p.m. Location: Oosterhaven

The gas lanterns at the tram station in Hoorn have been lit. Steam from the locomotive warms the carriages nicely. An atmospheric journey through time by steam tram to Dickensdag in Medemblik is about to depart.

At the end of the afternoon, we travel from Hoorn to Medemblik in just over an hour. At the Christmas market in the historic centre of Medemblik, more than 150 extras, musicians and choir members walk around in Dickensian style.
