Hoorn

During the era of the Dutch East India Company (VOC), the historic port town of Hoorn was one of the most important trading centers. This is certainly evident in the beautiful houses and facades of the old port town. Visit one of the museums or travel back in time by boarding the Hoorn-Medemblik Museum Steam Tram. The schedule varies daily. During school vacations, the Museum Steam Tram organizes fun activities for children. Or visit Oostereiland, home to the Museum of the 20th Century and a movie theater. Hoorn also has many shops, boutiques, and culinary restaurants where you can enjoy delicious meals. In the summer months, specifically in August, one of the country’s largest fairs takes place: for 10 days, the festivities are in full swing right in the heart of the historic city center.
